I did a quick search and saw that there were already a couple of threads on this subject, but decided to go ahead and post anyway to see if things have changed, if people know more about it, etc.

I received this email today:

"I am writing to let you know that one of your photos has
been short-listed for inclusion in the fifth edition of our
Schmap Philadelphia Guide, to be published late July 2008.

While we offer no payment for publication, many
photographers are pleased to submit their photos, as Schmap
Guides give their work recognition and wide exposure, and
are free of charge to readers. Photos are published at a
maximum width of 150 pixels, are clearly attributed, and
link to high-resolution originals at Flickr."

A quick search seems to reveal that they are for the most part, legit, if somewhat spotty in putting their guides together, and possibly just trying to get free pics even though they themselves make money from advertisers. Personally I am considering it, because I currently don't make any money from my photography anyway. If I did, I might not consider submitting it.

Thoughts?

p.s. Here it a link to the original flickr page:

p.p.s. Upon browsing through my flickr photos, I realize that many are on there simply to share with friends / family, and in fact some are not my work. Just wanted to let you know!
