Screw you guys.

Peter, you really are bad ... to the bone. And in a forum where, as Oscar Wilde would say, we can resist anything but temptation ...
Mike, I am simply trying to be helpful like a good RFF'er should! 😉

How is sticky electicians tape cleaner than a small factory-painted red dot? 😉
You need to buy a higher grade of electricians tape, and cut it with scissors. There is no stickiness at all, and it is far "cleaner" in a design/visual sense than having the red dot. Also, small is relative. Compared to the clean look of a black paint MP, that red dot on my M6 looks HUGE. Alas, courses for horses of course. 😉

Hmm, I guess I'm just more concerned about how my photos look than how my camera looks!
Zing! 😀

(Zing: A light-hearted insult meant only in good fun and not meant to offend.)

The tape is placed so that the subject is not drawn to the red dot....and develop a Leica-lust 😛 . Well, that's better than looking cross-eyed in the pics...😀

You mean these things take photographs? 😕

Hmmm... I will have to investigate further. 😀

No offense taken. It's sort of like driving a nice car, which I don't BTW. However, I can imagine that it would probably be far more pleasing to get to destination B from point A in an Aston Martin than in a Hyundai. They'll both get the job done from a practical standpoint, but there is some pleasure to be derived from the beauty of the object of conveyance.

The red dot is definitly a style thing for me. It's just ugly. I've red lieca is pretty liberal giving out the red sticker if asked for. Since it comes out rather easily. The new titanium M has a grey dot. I wonder if they'd give that out.

I will likely just throw some tape on it. Maybe colour in the "M7" with a marker. Paint even.

The bottom loading looks like a hassle. But I'll give it a shot. Maybe it just takes getting used to.

...But damn my reluctance. I just pulled the trigger on an M7 .85x.

I blame you. All of you.

Don't blame me. I've never seen an M7. I've only held an M3 and M4-P in a shop. Oh, and I do use the Bigfoot Twins, a.k.a. M5s. Yes, as a result of this jolly group here. 😱 😱 😀 😎

Enjoy!
