Correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't this an M3 lens with the goggles missing? Stu

Wrong. The screwmount Summicron 35 should be used as is on the M3 with an adapter and auxiliary finder. The helical on the goggled Summicron 35 has a different pitch and must be used with the goggles in order to focus correctly.

It was my understanding that the screwmount focused to 1 meter, the m2 version to .7, and the m3 to .65. That would make this lens an M3 model? Stu

It is obviously an LTM model. It certainly may have been the lens model which evolved into the goggled 35mm Summicron.

Only about 600 35mm LTM summicrons were produced. These close focussed to 1m. This one goes up to .65m. It's possably an M3 version with the goggles removed. You can't use it on an LTM body. It won't focus correctly and it's my understanding that it can't be fixed to a prpoer M lens by screwing a M mount on. I WOULD NOT BUY IT!
Oops I see Mr. Wang bought it... Well, I hope that he's a collector and not shoots this lens...

This rare version of the Summicron 35 mm f/ 2 first type (8 lens) was made in the 1960 (i have verified the matriculation number) for the last screw mount Leica IIIg and can mount, by the proper adapter ring, on the Leica M3 and M2. Whit the Leica IIIg and M3, both without the 35 mm framing in the viewfinder, was necessary the use of an external finder.
Ciao.

And they were making screw thread lenses in Canada at the time? This rare version of the Summicron 35 mm f/ 2 first type (8 lens) was made in the 1960

Yes, they were probably built in Canada at that time. Vicenzo probably means it is one of the earlier 8-element versions made for the M2. They had an M-mount that could be removed. In that case the above lens will focus correctly on an LTM, but this would make the lens missing the original M-mount.
