second om has landed

I have mainly Canon FD cameras, with a few Nikons, and even fewer Pentax cameras. Are OM lenses known to be excellent lenses?

Some of the canon FD lenses in my experience are absolutely excellent - something really wonderful about them. The OM lenses are very good too, I'd rate their optical performance as excellent, but not outstanding as the leica and zeiss lenses are.

Their strength is in there extremely compact size, the cameras handling and reliability, and the beautiful finder I just can't get enough of in such a small camera.

The Olympus fast/wide lenses are sometimes on par with zeiss stuff which is about the best in the business. the 21 f2, the 18 3.5, the 24 f2 etc etc - expensive but for a reason.
Also I find the wides have EXTREMELY good distortion characteristics.

Thanks,
Gavin

Gavin,
Thank you for the information on OM lenses. The 21mm/2.0 sounds good!

Also check out 85mm/2, our (my wife and I) favorite lens. I would say it's comparable to Jupiter 9 or the Sonnar.

I just remember I have a sample from long time ago I just uploaded to flickr.
Here it is:
