Two CLE's, one m7 and an XPANII... a dozen lenses for the first three and three lenses for the X. I was attempting to get an m7 a la carte but the idea of the m8 and entering the digital zone had waylaid that investment for the time being.

With women I do not think duplication is possible... the closest I got had a very similar physical resemblance with a dramatically different social personality. Entertaining but scary... to keep them both was dangerous so I went with the sane one. Now I sometimes wonder if it was the right move...midlife crisis? I don't know yet...
 
In the long run, the sane one is the better choice!

I just realized that I do have duplication of sorts: in 50mm RF lenses!

Frank, was that a Freudian slip? I thought this was about rangefinder bodies; not spouses.... ;- )
 
It's work vs. fun for me. I use DSLR's for fun and money at times. I typically carry a D200 (D100 for backup as all can use the same batteries), a 17-55mm (with a 18-55mm as a cheap backup), a 50mm 1.4D (with a 50mm 1.4AIS as the backup), a SB800 flash (with a SB600 flash for effect and as a cheap backup), a 60mm 2.8D for macro (with a Nikon 120mm f/4.5 macro lens for backup). I guess when money is involved I just get paranoid. ;)

For fun I use a DSLR or film SLR and usually carry just one lens. When I'm sick of them I use a RF with a fixed lens or a RF with only one lens. If something breaks then so be it.
 
M4, M4-2, M6 and MP
all seem to compliment each other but the workhorses are the M4 for the 50's and the MP for the 35 (or 28 when i need a bit wider)
 
Zorki 3, and a Zorki C.... 3 has more shutter speeds and a nicer VF, and the C is smaller and more compact.

....as for the SLRs.... Pentax ME super and a K1000, one electronic manual/semi-auto & a mechanical workhorse...
 
A second body is always useful, certainly if you tend to shoot slide and B&W. Now if you shoot different types of things, complementary bodies work well. I guess I'm lucky that I have this choice.
 
M6 and R3A, Contax N SLR, C-Lux1 and OLY 8080 - I am thinking of trading them all in except the C-Lux1 and getting a M7 - does the GAS ever end??
 
I was gonna scoff, and then, on thinking about it...

2x Mamiya Universals. They are complimentary because one is a black body, the other, chrome.

Ug. 2x RB67's. Complimentary because one is the "S," one isn't.

2x working Kievs. These are to contrast to the 2x that I have that DON'T.

GAS never ends.
 
While I have no duplicate bodies in any of my systems, the prevailing wisdom is that you can just grab the twin and all the controls etc are in the same place. This isn't so critical with RF and MF SLR's as there isn't too much variation, but when you get to DSLR's with varying menus and button placements, it can slow you down swtiching from body to body.

Not a slip at all, Jan. I "re-clothed" the problem using an analogy. :)
 
I've got three different LTM and three Ms. Of the Ms I have two M4s, but even they are different!! See my signature's link.
 
I'm not sure how you define "complimentary bodies". I have two MG-1s, one silver, one black. I also have two Canon A35Fs and two Argus c3s. All working. I have a Fed3 on order to "compliment??" my Kiev4?

No, I don't know why. GAS I guess.
 
My complementary RFs are Leica M4 and Contax T. The M4 has robust build, great VF, lens choice, no battery dependency. The T has AE, flash, small size. Because supply is limited and repair options are few, I stockpiled two backups for my T shooter.
 
I voted in "I own complementary bodies", although I really fall in
"I own complementary bodies and similar bodies as well".
 
I own two Leica IIIf's - one I keep at home and the other at work, so they are never taken out together. (It saves me transporting a camera to and from work whenever, and I always have something to hand when the situation arises)
