self timer on Seikosha SLV

I have recently acquired an Aires M28: Seikosha SLV shutter was gummed up and not working at all. I've cleaned and lubed it and everything is OK EXCEPT that when I run the self timer the shutter starts to open very slowly (and not fully) about half way through the cycle. Apart from that, everything proceeds as it should. Any tips would be most gratefully received.

In my experience, the delay action of leaf shutters can't be taken seriously after some five or so decades, whether the leaf shutter is Japanese, or a Compur, a Prontor, or whatever.
Unless you want to ruin your fingernails and/or grow callused fingertips, I'd suggest: simply leave it alone 🙂

It's also very possible that the shutter will stop midway through the self timer cycle and prevent the shutter from operating. It's happened to me. I would treat any old camera w/ a self timer as one that simply did not have that feature and leave it be.

I have the Citizen MV shutter on two Ricoh Diacord G TLRs. Both are sticky at times, I'm not a fixer type. But I can work around my type of sticking, it is still very annoying.
