The M8 was my dream camera , funded by inheritance .
However , it does not get used as much as I am better with a non traditional interface .
I am seriously considering selling to fund a second Fuji with zoom to complement my X-Pro 1 which is a game changer !
Is this sensible ?

Dreams change. Do what you feel is best at the time, you know you better than we do. But an M8 not being used is no help to anyone. Is it sentimental because of the inheritance?

if you prefer shooting the XP1 to the M8, then yes.

fwiw, i sold the larger part of my M gear to fund a couple of fuji bodies and several lenses. what's left of the M gear doesn't see much use since i moved over to Fuji nearly 3 years ago, so may just sell the rest of it. it's hard to sell M stuff though.

The X-T1 would be cost effective. The X-T2 (shipping now?) is more money and its IQ is improved (especially in low light. These work with all the Fujifilm lenses. The X-T1/2 is a bit they offer are more AF options... which are worth learning.

As others mentioned in earlier threads, the 16-55/2.8 is an excellent zoom lens.

Ms are weird. When you have them sometimes you go through long periods of not using them, and you wonder why you bother having this placeholder for a stack of cash. So you sell it and move on. Then suddenly you see a picture of an M and you think...geez I really miss that thing. They definitely have "use me appeal". So, you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't. 😀

I have cured this by simplifying into an M4 with the 35mm f2 Biogon, and 21mm Color Skopar. It's completely immune to technological progression, and has all the charms you could ask for in a Leica.

My "all I need" FF DSLR started to show its age, support was stopped, while most expensive AF lens started to show its age due to the plastic (known issue). I let old DSLR go, purchased next version and realized what my most expensive lens isn't working well with this model (known issue).
I've sold DSLR and Lens to buy more film Ms and L lenses. They needs CLA once every five years or so if used weekly. But IQ stays the same and no compatibility issues.

I did this after realizing what digital M and its service never going to be in my budget and finding what extremely well made, designed Fuji X series cameras and some of its lenses could be obtained at low price once they are few years old. Thanks to FujiFilm and gearheads!

I'd say it all depends on which Fuji... if it's a X-Pro2 or X-T2, then I say go for it. If any of the other bodies, you most likely can sell something else and get one for cheap.

The fujis are execellent tools capable of providing results when the m8 can not.
The m8 is still fully capable in proper light for its less capable sensor.

One important thing to mention. Your M8 is likely at the bottom of its value now.
It's not likely to depreciate much if at all financially.
The Fujis on the other hand depreciate rapidly.
If you spend $1000 on Fuji gear it will be worth $500 in a years time.
Personally I have no problem with that as it's a more capable tool. (Fuji)
Others freak out over the math. Just thought It should be mentioned.

Thanks Ko.fe , but my paper weights calm my ASdee !!
It seems that Fuji have upset the apple cart - it's finding brand new X-Pro 1 @ under £300 that started this indee'cision .
Problem is when I do pick up the M8 with Amadeus mounted Brian Sweeney J3 , it's still magic , it's just that it does not feature as an everyday camera like the X-Pro 27mm ...
