I'd never advise someone to buy a new digital camera unless it was a recently released model known to to have a long lifespan (5D, X-Pro, etc).
The Acros jpeg engine in the X-Pro2 is a very nice thing. I'd suggest selling the X-Pro1 and M8 (and everything else you haven't shot in months and to which you have no sentimental attachment) and pick up an X-Pro2 with a very nice lens.

Remember you can fool an M8 to get a higher ISO without digital noise. If that's your issue, you can fix it. If you just want another Fuji, that's another story. Over the years I've gotten out of Leica twice and regretted it both times. If your M8 works well, give some serious thought about a decision to unload it.

I have a IIIc Elmar and 1933 Black/nickel II Elmar one of which I may , at the moment , sacrifice for a 16-50 for the X-Pro1 .
I have a Summitar which I love with the M8 plus that adapter for Contax lenses - including that 1959 J3 in genuine Contax mount which Brian Sweeney had left over from his other conversions .
I accept that the X-Pro 2 is excellent , bayernfan , but the M8 was a glitch in inexpensive DSLRs .
Being retired , I could not justify £1300 for a camera body when my NEW X-Pro 1 was less than £300 .
It's this wholly , unexpected bargain basement camera with a great 27mm f2.8 which has created this situation !!!
I was thinking of a cheaper Fuji complete with the 16-50 as a second body for mono ... but there is no hardship to take out the X-Pro with 16-80 and 27 PLUS the M8 with CV 35 f2.5 Color Scopar / Summitar.
The X-pro seems to have broken the DSLR [ Sony A35 / 35mm ] habit !

I sold a bunch of Fujifilm cameras and lenses to KEH and none of them depreciated that much.. especially in 12 months time. Obviously they do depreciate more than Leicas.
I replaced the older Fujifilm gear with newer Fujifilm gear.

I just sold my M8 for an x-t1 with 35mm 1.4. I still had about £200 left over as well. While I loved the Rangefinder focussing of the m8 and the simplicity of the experience, the xt1 is also an impressive camera and delivers great results. The M8 crop sensor frustrates me slightly and had real trouble getting lenses to deliver the expected results. I guess using lenses designed for film on a digital camera will sometimes lead to dissapointment. After you rule out lenses with focus shift problems, there are not many left. With the Fuji the lenses all work flawlessly on the camera they were designed to be used with. Plus if something goes wrong with it you just cut your losses and buy another. With the M8 I always had in the back of my mind the concern that it would die on me leaving me with a big problem. I miss the M8 a bit but I feel more than happy with the xt1.

Unlike Leica film cameras and lenses, the M8 is not getting any more valuable over time. If you are not using it, not much sense in keeping it. My thought is that if you got a new lens, you would be likely to take more photos, rather than waiting on an M8 inspiration moment to arrive.

I'd get the zoom and use the xp1. Strikes me as a bit extravagant to buy a second body just to mount a zoom. Perhaps holding onto what you get from anything you sell might be a considered approach.
While it's not the ideal zoom body, ergonomics differences should be a consideration. I used to shoot an X100 (all 3 models) and an xt1. Going back and forth was always a re-learning experience. I now shoot an e2 and an xp1. Not bad going between the 2 but still have to remember my function buttons have different assignments. Easier to simply swap lenses. They are very different cameras and I have them set up (by necessity with the limited Fn buttons on the xp1) and shoot them very differently (adapted, daytime, fun for the xp1 versus AF, night or day, travel, ease-of-use for the E2).
Depreciation has been and may likely continue to be an issue with mirrorless. They are still in a rapid improvement cycle. The difference between an xp1/xt1 and an xp2/xt2 is significant. The resale prices reflect this. I'm now buying towards the end of product cycles, discontinued or very good used. It's not so much a financial issue, it's just silly to spend on the latest and see its value drop by a third on day one and by 2/3rds a couple of years later.

By the way, your Skopar 35/2.5 is a gorgeous lens for the xp1. My Skopar is pretty much permanently mounted on my xp1. With the ISO capabilities of the Fuji sensor, I set ISO to auto, 200-6400, SS at 200, aperture at f8 and point and shoot. MF is easy under any lighting conditions with peaking. Zoom at 3X for critical stuff. The xp1 is also far more responsive in capturing the shot (though processing times are still at a snails pace).
Consider setting the top Fn button to DOF. Use the lever to set the ovf, use the Fn button to go back and forth. Never touch the lever again. Way quicker and a more natural movement.
I see a lot of comments on the web the e2 has better peaking. I have both, they're the same. You can see the peaking and that's all you need to see. It's irrelevant how bold or what color they are. The problem with "photographers" with their noses stuck on spec sheets and their cameras sitting in a drawer.

Older members remember Brian. He's a whiz at culminating especially the Russian J-3 50/1.5 LTM to proper specs.
Dee, Keep the M8 & fall in love with it again brother. I'm assuming Brian culminated the J3 for the M8. He helped me with my J3 on my Bessa R & it's a perfect match.

Yes , the J3 was gifted to me from Brian - he was mounting Sonnars in LTM , so had a genuine Contax mount which he fitted with the 1959 J3.

It's perfect on the M8. He actually gave it to me for my Contax III with Kiev 4 top plate and meter - I think that he was amused at completing the hybrid .
It's daft , but my Kievs and hybrid Kontaxes settle me [ see avatar- parts Contax + late new , Kiev shutter assembly with J3 ] and wanted to use my j8s on the M8 . The adapter is an awesome piece of engineering an looks great on the M8 .
i did something weird and blacked out the awful lettering on the new £25 Helios I also like to use as the crop factor creates a nom 77mm effective lens .
You know guys , I really should be content with what I have . My Sony A35 and A290 with 35 f1.8 create OK snapshots as does my K10d with 50mm Pentax manual lens . The X-Pro 1 kinda messed my head a bit as I never anticipated another camera beyond entry level CSC or DSLR .
I don't NEED that Fuji 16-50 ...
I am going to go with gb hill/helen hill and re-adopt ' emMa8 ' and enjoy the simplicity [!?] of that X-pro 1 as a carry all camera with that excellent 27mm...
