selling 2/35mm canadian lens for german lens

To make a long story short: I had to send my lens out to get CLA'd and have the indexing aligned. Leica set it improperly at the factory so the front retainer ring or whatever had to be filed in order to get to 12:00. I got it back but a few days into shooting the front of the lens is coming loose. Was adjusting aperture today and felt a shift. If I so much as just slightly nudge the aperture index forward, everything in front of the focus ring shifts enough to cause alarm. So he'll tighten everything up nice and tight and send back expedited.

I am set on a v4. I had a v3, and found the aperture ring almost unusable with a hood on. The ergonomics/size on the v4 are perfect and I prefer the focus throw. It just works with my hand. An ASPH is too big and I don't want a v1. So, when I get it back and everything is nice and tight, do I just cross my fingers and keep it or sell it for a German one? I will definitely lose money if I sell it as I paid too much which means I'd be even more in the hole paying for a German one.

Since the Canadian ones have glue holding the front retainer ring on (this is ****ing laughable btw) will the whole thing get knocked out of alignment if I lightly bump the hood into something? That's the only reason I'd want to swap, but I don't know if I have it in me to go through the hassle of selling and buying and probably having to get another CLA again. I'm losing my mind. This is all being done by Don for what it's worth so if he say the lens is legit it's legit. The front end loosening up must've just been a fluke, eh? I've never mounted or dismounted using the hood.

Who else has been through this bull****?

I am set on a v4.

I have, twice, broken off the focusing tab on my German v4. It's an inexcusable design flaw. The first time it happened it went to Don and I also had him do a CLA which visibly cleaned up some internal haze. That was a plus. The second time, I stuck the tab back on with Gorilla brand double stick tape. That was quite a while ago and it's been fine. The screws are still inside the focusing ring structure and appear to be too long to fall in completely and interfere with the helical. That much was good design. I'm not going to get it fixed. It works, I much prefer the concave tab to the "bear paw", and the lens is smaller than the v5. If Leica re-released an "homage" v4 with the v5's coatings and a one-piece focus ring I'd probably buy one. They're equally prone to flair but v5's coatings make it less intense. I've seen a comparison.

it would be a big help if you identified the lens you are talking about,
and posted in the correct forum

Thanks

Had that problem with my v3 once. Oh my god a homage 35 v4 would be the best thing ever.

You must be using a better browser than me Ko.Fe. Looked to me like the first response related to the 50 Summicron. I admit I guessed we were to be talking about a 35 Summicron. Just to keep it mixed up: I prefer the bear-claw on my Version 4 50 Summicron. My 35 German Summicron had the mount come loose. So I tightened it. My science teacher got a brand new version 3 or 4 with an element out of place: the first roll was all blurred. Nothing is perfect.
