there are folks who do counter scams. i have seen a website, can"t think of it now, but it was full of methods. i am sure a google looky loo would help

You are about to do business in a field filled with crooks who have been scamming folks for years now.
Outside Nigeria, as has been stated above, a) do not give your info (bank etc) to *anyone*, and b) never send to some *other* address (more so other country) than the confirmed one.
Remember, there is risk for loss when dealing even with *good* people.

No. The 'money' is deposited in your bank account, where it sits for some time until it 'clears'. At some point after that, the bank determines that the the transfer is fraudulent and takes it back out of your account. If you followed the scammer's instructions, you have by this time withdrawn thousands of dollars and wired it to his accomplice, which you will never see again. Now the bank comes after you for it. If you fail to repay, you are arrested for fraud. If you just take the money out and keep it, same thing.
There is never any money. It's a fraud from end-to-end. If you try to scam the scammer, you just get crosswise with your own bank and end up arrested.

Funny that people think everyone in Nigeria is a scammer because in the internet there are the famous "Nigerian scams". OK, the email sounds funny but calm down people... A Counter-scam just because someone lives in Nigeria??
By the way, I have bought stuff several times delivered to different address than my Paypal is registered for, because I spent the summer away. I dont get what is the problem there...
So yes, be careful and use your senses. Ask more information and talk with the guy and make your decisions.

If you think the OP's contact is not a scammer, give it a shot. The world is full of suckers and who need to have their money taken away. Probably do you some good. Go for it.

The Government of Canada anti-fraud website has this great scam example. They call it the Hitman Scam:

Ahh yeah it's the famous Nigerian Scam, and I got plenty of emails from them always promising that I'll become a millionaire if I send them money first LOL ;-p
