Selling Nikon 9000 ED in favor of Epson 700/750?

Neither, actually. My scanner's best focus appears to be at the glass flatbed level. So, I just use the "film guide", put the film down, and cover with ANR glass.

I sold my 9000 and downgraded to a Plustek 7600 when I went 35mm only. Before that I had the V700 scanning mainly 6x6 and was pretty happy. Whilst the V700 was great to use and excellent value for money I always questioned whether I should look to the 9000... I quite like scanning, but I only want to do it once ;-) The 9000 was more than a 'small step up'... frankly it was a huge difference in quality and I never regretted paying the $$$. If I shot MF again it would be a no-brainer... Nikon 9000 (if I could find one!) I'd really think hard before selling it...

I sometimes wonder if Kodak, who are obviously struggling with film, made the effort to get into bed with a clever company capable of making a decent scanner for a reasonable price there wouldn't be more people out there willing to use film and help their cause. Lack of a decent 35mm scanner at a price that the average enthusiast can afford has to be penalising film usage! Chemical based print production is costly and requires a level of skill and committment that doesn't interest me currently ... but I'd be all over a decent scanner for a grand and a half or so!
