Selling one: CV35 or M-Rokkor 40?

I have these two lenses and would like to sell one to free up some cash.

The CV Nokton Classic 35 f1.4 was my first RF lens, and the M-Rokkor 40 f2 came with a Minolta CL as a set. I like the 35/40mm focal length. And thanks also to the small form factor both have served me well over the past year, esp the CV, which I used a lot on my M7 and RD-1.

But I have recently suffered a GAS attacked and got a 35 Summicron (plus a lot of other stuff), and three 35/40mm is just too many.

I intend to keep one to use as a everyday, carry-around lens, for use mostly with my CL. I like the CV because it's a stop faster. But the Rokkor is a tad smaller bec of its collapsible hood.

How would you choose?

I do choose the Rokkor (summicron). Unless you just absolutely need the extra tiny bit of view angle, why move from a 40 cron to a 35 for all the extra dough? The cure to gas is going out and getting that shot that convinces you the gear you have is perfect. 😉

If you need the speed, there is only one choice.

Why keep two summicrons of nearly the same focal length?

Perhaps the best idea would be to sell both the CV 35 and the 40 cron, then, either:

a) get a CV 40/1.4 .

b) a totally different focal length, such as a 21/25 or a 75, to pair with the 35. The CV offerings at these lengths are appealing.

Again, is f/2 enough?

both are great lenses so it's a no lose situation.

depending on what other lenses you have...i like the idea of selling both and getting a 75...35/75 is an excellent kit.

or a 40/1.4 if you like 40 and fast. i am thinking of looking for the fast 40 as a winter lens.

Keep the CV 35 1.4. I don't see any reason to buy a 35 Summicron when you have the Nokton, it's faster and probably sharper. Especially when it's at f2.

I made some comparison-shots and decided on the basis of IQ, contrast and OOF-behavior .
I kept the Nokton.

Haempe - thanks for the link. It has helped. I am now leaning towards parting with the 40 M-Rokkor.

Sold my Rokkor 40mm and still regret it. Don't miss my CV35 at all so would say keep the Rokkor.

I have a 35 Nokton SC and just received a Summicron 40. After some comparison testing I've decided to sell the Nokton. I definitely prefer the sharpness, contrast, and bokeh of the Summicron.

I really like the Nokton's handling, though. Ergonomically, it's about perfect. And that extra stop is also nice.

The Rokkor is my favourite lens on the M6, and the 35mm lines work perfectly with it after some careful modification of the lens cam.

I just bought an M2 (yet to receive) which I'm at some point looking to complement with a CV Nokton 40mm, hopefully the SC version. I'm just wondering if the M2 framelines are the same as the M6 lines.

What about selling them all (including the 35 summicron) and just get a pre-ASPH Summilux 35 ? ... just sayin :angel:
