I am finally going to do it....

I am packaging up my Yashica GX to send to Mark Hama in Georgia.

My GX looks almost new, but alas, does not respond to battery power.

I can get the counter back light to glow but no AUTO operation.

Mark has promised to make it 'as new' for $150.00 and two weeks time.

I have been meaning to get this camera to him for about a year.

Then I came across some night images on Flickr taken with the GX,
the images were fantastically sharp.

I hope my example is that sharp, too.

Cheers...

Good luck! He didn't do what I asked him to do w/ my Lynx--dark and almost invisible yellow RF patch. Needless to say, was disappointed.

The GX is a fine camera.

GX and Hama

I sent my GX to Hama about 6 months ago. It was also in very good shape to begin with- but had battery issues. When I got the camera back it worked perfectly and even smelled like a brand new GX! It works perfectly now and I have been very happy (fast turn around time too).

How long ago was this, Bill..??

About 2 years ago, as recall. It was the main reason I sent it to him and I specifically asked that this be done along w/ the CLA. My Lynx's RF patch was so faint, it rendered it unusable in low light light--the Lynx's raison d'être. A tech person here properly fixed the patch for pennies. Live and learn.........

Well, everyone says he took a bad spell about two years ago. Sorry he didn't complete your repair properly.

I am still going to send mine, and hope for Matt's outcome.

Appreciate

.

I email mark asking about a complete overhaul for my yashica D and 2 weeks has passed and no reply till now...maybe he's busy, maybe lazy :D

He answered my emails about the GX the same day!!

As he has always done mine. Don't worry about it. He has done three cameras for me and I have yet to have anything to complain about. A MG -1 is on the way back to me now. I sent it to him ten days ago!

Cheers...

Sounds good, Rem...appreciate.

I've had Mark service a Yashica TLR for me before. Emails didn't seem to get anywhere, one phone call and I got to speak with him. I think he prefers phone contact over email.

That's unfortunate. Maybe, if he's recovered enough, he could send me either my Canon P camera I sent for repair, or the money I paid him.
