Sensibility of keeping "overlapping" lenses...

I have an R9/DMR and am disturbed by how big and heavy it is.

I have much the same lenses in M mount.

So, what is the sensibility of keeping these lenses, when I can do faster and better with my M's:

- 50mm f1.4 Summilux-R E60
- 35mm f1.4 Summilux-R
- 80mm f1.4 Summilux-R

Of course, I'd keep my 28mm PC, 100mm Macro and my longer R telephoto lens.

Tell me your stories, of how wonderful the 35/50/80 Summilux-R lenses are, or, your advice on "sell'em and move on".

🙂

I am in somewhat the same situation as you. I have similar focal lengths in Nikon SLR and rangefinder cameras. I'm coming to the conclusion that for wide angles, the RF cameras win for compactness and lack of geometrical distortion. SLRs win for macro and telephoto, as well as specialty lenses such as the PC shift lenses.

I may put up my Nikkor 35 1.4 and 24 2.8 for sale. Then I'd have a jump from 50mm to 20mm directly.

The main reason for keeping the wide-angle R glass is to avoid having to carry two different camera systems at times when you don't want to. When hiking with a camera, if you bring both M and R you have to carry more stuff. And when shooting slide film, but not planning to take a lot of pictures, then you have to load two cameras and you have the expenses of two rolls and two processing costs. That is why I want to start using my R glass on the Nikon bodies: so I can use both R and Nikon glass on the same body and same roll.
