I[ll be flying in that day, but wont be able to get there by noon. Glad to see I`ll be able to check out Photoville though...

Hoping to relieve my NYC absence with a trip up for this.
Would be great to get to see everyone there.

Ben,

The 15th at noon. Basically want to do the first Sunday to avoid the crowds.

I wonder if the Leica booth will have either a 75 Cron-SL or 16-35 SL to loan out and try.

Well that's it, my Canon Printer finally died, keeps popping up there's a print head
error, and to reinstall the printer head and when I do it still say's error so it had a
good life for eight year's time to move on.

Bob,

Tung gifted me a Canon 17 inch wide printer. I took it home on the subway. Later I gifted it to Andre. I never-ever used it.

This lasted me a long time, which is good and the new printers are so big!
I have to find something that does great prints in a small package.

Bob,

The new Epson P7000 weighs in at 235 pounds and it is only a 24 inch printer. The 9800 and 9880 were 44 inch printers and only weighed 235 pounds.

My 7800 is still going strong, and it only weighs about 125 pounds. For me the weight is more intimidating than the sizes.

I just joined to volunteer at Photoville. Last year I basically was a greeter and handed out programs at the gate. This face-time in the photo community was very worth while, and I learned a lot about how things work, I made some friends, and I am more widely known.

I intend on volunteering after work on two Fridays like last year. At the end of the night I kinda chase people out so we can secure the area. Kinda funny how first I'm a greeter welcoming people, and then I flip the switch and kick them out.

So I get the insider view and all the smut. I also get a free T-shirt, and at the thank you pizza party I got some groceries that was part of an exhibit that I loaded up on. Lots of canned crushed tomatoes to make sause. This year I'll bring a knapsack to load up on swag.

Hanging out at the main entrance next to the Leica booth was also cool. I was able to say hi to Renee, and listen to a presentation by Donato on street photography.

Anyways this is the seventh year of Photoville.

I signed up for the two Friday nights. Last year I met a lot of people and it was really great being part of this grand event as an insider.

Because of my insider status I was able to attend the Pete Sousa interview. Really-really interesting hearing about the smut and back stories of when Pete was the White House photographer for President Obama's two terms.

Pete was exhausted from those 8 years of service. In the interview he stated that h only used one sick day and had one week's vacation in those 8 years.

BTW Pete chose to shoot a Canon DSLR, and carried two of them. His decision was based on the Canon's having the quieter shutter. Took over 2 million shots over those eight years. Pretty much he likely wore out a few cameras.

Also know that Pete shared how he post processed and edited those 2 million shots. I learned a lot.
