New York September NYC Meet-Up

So John has engagements with friends and will not be included, and Steve was thinking the same thing (meaning going to Photoville).

So now we need to come up with a landmark as a place to meet. How about the Kar-O-sell at noon.

Please post so the thread gets bumped. I realize that I'm doing this all at the last minute, but I don't want people to slip through the cracks. I need all the bumping and can't get the word out all alone.

For all you lurkers who did not post: I PM everone that posted about the Meet-Up in this thread, and even my friend Robert to bump the thread.

Lets keep bumping, and know that after 4:00 PM tomorrow I'll be offline because I won't be at my boring day job.

John,

There is only one you. LOL.

Anyways this is a new way to annoy my friends: change plans at the last moment. LOL.

Cal

He's too cool for the meetup now Cal. Plus he doesn't have any rangefinders anymore so we shouldn't allow him in anyway

Planning to come for the meetup. Although I might be late. I want to see that SL!

Pro-Mone,

It is a very sick camera. I basically makes it easy to shoot F1.4 and F1.2 and nail focus easily. The file size is 48 MB larger than a M-240 because the SL is 14 bit and the M-240 only 12 bit.

The processor is from the Leica "S." So basically I can basically shoot over 33 shots DNG to fill the buffer. Both the VF'er and display are superb resolution.

Perhaps the only short coming is battery life, especially with all my chimping. LOL.

The 50 Lux-R "E60" is non ASPH and the blend of sharp and soft is crazy nice like a 75 Lux-M.

I love shooting at F1.4 with the 50 Lux, and it is so easy.

Yous a fool. Maybe next time I'll show up with only the iPhone 7 plus.

John,

Your passing snide remark about me getting an I-phone will likely become true. It seems that "Maggie" will be upgrading shortly.

The only thing worse than a clueless hipster is perhaps a vintage clueless hipster who doesn't know what he's doing. LOL.

Also I want everyone to know that I have a new identity because I got a haircut. Anyways people are saying I look more Japanese then ever. I donated my ponytail to "Locks of Love" so that it can be made into wigs for kids that have Cancer.

My hair is still long, clipped to collar length, and it is kind of a blend of a Johnny Dep impersonation and the cartoon character protagonist from the "Jungle Book." Know that I can still do a man-bun, but because I'm a lazy slacker I leave it down and it is kind of a little bit of a wild mess.

I hope you guys recognize me. LOL. Anyways my stylist (Maggie) likes it.

Cal,

"Photoville" would work for me, but if you could post some particulars. That web site has tons of info so I'm a little lost. Are your thinking meeting at the beer garden?

More detail please...

Joe,

As a landmark I picked the Carousel because it is an outstanding landmark, and noon for added flexibility because people could always come early. The Carousel also happens to be a great subject to shoot, especially if you happen to be there when it is open and not operating without any crowds.

Photoville has all these shipping containers dispersed all over Brooklyn Bridge park set up with all kinds of exhibits celebrating photography. One is Ralph Gibson that Helen Mentioned, and there is also some big tribute/exhibition celebrating Bill Cunningham.

Think of Photoville as a photography festival that began September 21st and will close on September 25th.

I navigated through the site, and you are correct in that there are lots of dead links, but one I discovered that worked was an event that is scheduled at 4:00-4:45 PM on September 25th: Advice from Emerging Photographers from Emerging Photographers which is a panel discussion moderated by Holly Hughs, the Editor of Photo District News. I plan on attending this one.

Anyways There are all these events, and all these exhibits so it really is impossible to make an itinerary other than try and meet-up at noon. I likely will go mucho early, so if you want to meet-up for breakfast I'm cool with that, but realize that because I'm a lazy slacker that I'll be offline after 4:00PM tomorrow so if anyone wants my cell phone number to track me they had better already have my number or get it from me before the deadline of 4:00 PM Friday.

The Brooklyn waterfront is mighty big...

Cal,
That thought crossed my mind as well (about going to Photoville in Dumbo instead of sitting around in a bar.) but not sure anyone else would be interested. They have (or at least had) a place to sit down and drink beer. I met some folks from Holland there last year.
If you want go for it. I can make it over to Photoville.
Do you know a place to meet, or were you thinking of the beer garden, at photo ville?

Steve

Unfortunately I'm going to have to skip this one as well. I'll be giving bicycle tours this Sunday. Look out for a big group of orange bikes. We'll be passing through Brooklyn bridge park around 3pm. I may go to photoville on Saturday.
