A properly working L28c2.

About 1976, I purchased a Sekonic L28c2 from the PX catalog just before leaving Korea. They are wonderful meters. Especially in the incident mode which they seem best at. I always used it with my Super Press 23.

It just seemed like a nice meter and that was the reason I bought it. Those things still hold their value on the 'bay. I never figured out why, even though I really liked mine. I never wanted to pay what they were selling for.

Recently I ran across one that had no lumisphere, lumigrid, or reflected light grid. Cheap because of that. Less that $30.00. It works! And I have those other accessories from my old meter.

I am happy and satisfied. (At least until the next GAS attack :D :D :D ).

isn't it just great when ya manage to get something for a good price and you just happen to have what went with it. well done

i know! what is it about the prices on those old meters! sometimes they are listed as not working even! other times listed as 'the needle moves but cant asure acuracy' type of thing.

i got an ancient old electro bewi meter (came free with a camera i got) that seems to work very well but i have no idea how to read or use it. i had searched for ages to find an instruction manual for it with no success. then not so long ago a got another camera (cant remember which one) and the seller included a bewi the same as i had in the package as a gift. this one didn't work so well but it came with the original box and guess what...the instructions!! YIPPY.....bugger it hasnt helped me much tho as the instructions are in german (which i dont really read--just do my best ) and what i have gleaned makes little sence to me! ah well ya get that eh!

I have seen those Bewi meters from time to time. In fact, you might want to try this http://cgi.ebay.com/Instructions-Be...VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247 as the description seems to indicate English as there is no (G) or German with the description. It looks like they also often go for big prices.

I have seen references on ebay about the Sekonics being used on movie sets, but there have to be more modern meters that would work as well. I know I was always very happy with the photos produced using mine. Looking at the photos of the Bewi meters, it looks like they had the scale for that.

My meter going bad did have one nice side effect. It gave me impetus to get another couple of meters I had alway been interested in; the Gossen Luna Pro and Luna Pro SBC. I learned to respect SBC cells with my Fuji ST 901. I also got the flash and spot accessories for the SBC. I like the sensitivity of the SBC in low light. But I never felt as comfortable with either of those as with the Sekonic.

Hope you get the Bewi to working. It is fun to be able to use older equipment, especially as you say, when it is something you get at a great price.

i havn't had a lot of experiance with vintage meters so i am not sure if i can get it going or not. i am more familiar with modern types having worked in a studio using the minolta meters.
anyway i attached a snap shot of the Bewi ,its an older model i think than what that manual is for, at the link you provided..cheers just the same. much appreciated

i thought the meter needed a little company so its sitting next to a Welta Watson :D for something a bit different!
