Have a Franka Solida III which takes threaded 40.5mm filters and hood. Also have a Bessa I which takes 37mm slip-on accessories. Is there such a monster as a 37mm slip-on to 40.5 threaded adapter? I have seen 37mm slip-on to Series VI adapters - is this what I'm looking for?

I'm going guess you need a 42mm slip-on adapter for the Solida III.

The best way to check is to buy a cheapo machinist's caliper from some place like eBay or Harbor Freight that is digital and reads both inches and mm.

I have the Bessa I and use the 37mm VI series slip on adapter on it. For the Polaroid 110b I had to make a slip on filter holder of 46.44 mm. I got the slip on grey plastic close up lenses for it and converted one by gluing in a 43.5 mm filter with the filter glass removed. A 43.5mm thread to series VI made it universal. There are other lenses that can use the Series VII filters with adapters here but for the Iskra I was lucky in finding fitting thread filters + a flexible hood on a photo flea market.

The usual method to get there is measuring in and outer dimensions of fiters and gluing a combination together when no adapter like that exists.

I ordered several series filters, adpters and hoods from www.filterfind.net as the site's filter information then was the best I could find.

[Do you want to use the 40,5 mm filters on your Bessa ? /QUOTE]

That's the idea. I already have a 40.5mm hood & filters for the Franka. I'd like to use them on the Bessa w/o having to purchase a separate set of hood/filters just for the Bessa. I was already starting to entertain the idea that I will probably have to concoct a useful adapter myself. Just hoping something already existed. Thanks.

Ken, seems like you have a few options to share filters between these cameras.
I've not seen a 37 SO to 40.5 screw adapter but that doesn't mean that there aren't any.
I suggest you email the folks at filterfind (as linked above) and ask them. Another person you might contact is this ebay seller:http://stores.ebay.com/photo-widget?_rdc=1
He deals in vintage filters, hoods, and step rings, etc.

The other way to go that would get you a single set of filters to share between the two cameras would be two series adapters--37mm SO to Series VI and 40.5mm screw to Series VI and a single set of Series VI filters.
I know this doesn't let you use the filters you already have on both cameras but may be a slightly simpler way to go.
A quick search on ebay turned up this:

I've never dealt with this seller but they may have the appropriate adapters for your cameras. Once again, I'd email and ask.
Good luck!

Necessity & Mothers

Necessity & Mothers

Necessity & Mothers - the two go together in an old adage. While rummaging through some of my stuff/junk. I found a 40mm - to 40.5mm step-up ring I used to use on a Canon 50mm/1.8. Seems that the internal diameter of the 40mm end was a nano-tad larger than 37mm. A dremel tool to cut slots, a tweeking of the internal diameter of the slotted end and I now have a 37mm slip-on to 40.5mm adapter.

I would think that Series VI would function well for both his cameras (Solida and Bessa). I use a Modified 36mm push-on with my Agfa Record II + Series VI filters and hood. I also use 4 different (some modified) push-ons Series V for 2 Yashica TLRs, A Kochmann Korelle, an Agfa Billy 0 (Zero) and an Agfa Super Silette-L. The only trick is finding the porper camera / series adapter.

Looks like you have solved your own problem, but this might be a consideration. http://cgi.ebay.com/37mm-43mm-37-43...ItemQQptZLens_Accessories?hash=item4146893590

I have purchased from this seller once, and it took about a month to arrive, but arrive it did and you might be able to get faster shipping. I took the default. I an looking to get another set of adapters this seller has for a lens hood.
