After too much time spent thinking about it, I've finally taken the plunge and put together my first photo book. I spent a week on vacation in Slovenia this summer and made photography a high priority while I was there - this book is the end result.

I did it primarily for myself, as an exercise in self-editing and to see how the process works, but I'm happy with the result, so I thought I would share it. A link to the Blurb page (which includes a partial preview) is here: REDACTED

Here are a few shots that are included in the book. I hope you enjoy them.

Congratulations and thanks for sharing!

Thanks! I have to admit it was very satisfying to open up the book for the first time and see my photos.

As an aside, I'm pretty pleased with the Blurb-printed book. I opted for the highest quality photo paper after reading several threads here on RFF, and I'm glad I did.

How did the Blurb printing of the B+W images turn out? I recently did a complete book of B+W photos and was disappointed with the results - blue-green cast, even after they reprinted it for me at no charge. Even the pages where I had a solid mid-grey background came out with the same blue-green cast, so I do not believe that it was any error in my workflow, and the test book of B+W photos I did turned out pretty well, which is why I went ahead with the full book.

David-

I'm sorry I never answered your question - I never got back here to even see the post prior to now. There wasn't a visible cast to the B+W photos, though they didn't have the depth that I hoped for; they just seemed a little flat. After looking at it several times and debating whether to see if Blurb could improve it in a reprint, I decided to print a copy through AdoramaPix. I'd used them for prints before and been very happy, so I gave it a shot. In a word, WOW. The quality is way, way higher than the Blurb book in every way. Thicker, shinier paper (I opted for gloss), the printing is great, the pictures have the depth and tones I hoped for - it's just so much better. It wasn't any more expensive than Blurb either. I don't have to tell you where I'll be doing one-off or short-run books in the future.
