I respect your opinion, and I apologize for using that word. I will edit my post and remove it at your request.

We do call our cats that when they bring back animals they don't need for food, and we have put a bell collar on our cat to hopefully give more warning to any live small animals.

BTW, photography related, my son and I do photograph in detail, the kills. We don't post them though, but we study them to try to understand some behaviors or possible scenarios. If this were an animal behavior forum, I would go into more detail.

I don't have an issue with your thoughts about the scene as you describe it ... but the term 'savages' was in poor taste IMO. These are people to whom harvesting the sea's riches is a way of live and to describe them in such terms is unfair.

A bird your cat kills in it's daily activities, and most cats do lets face it, may have had young in a nest somewhere!

I remember when I was in Fiji staying at a resort years ago ... the navy arrived and confiscated the restaurant's fish supplies. It turned out they'd been purchased from a supplier who was in the habit of using dynamite rather than legal methods of fishing! 😛

I'm not current on Fiji, but I know that worldwide, there is much concern about the safety of shark meat, with regards to mercury content.

Do the folks in Fiji still rely on the sharks for food? I know it is popular with divers, and also controversial with sport fishing for shark.
