Bought lots of hoods from 1£ each box in local camera shop. Normally I've by passed the junk plastic push on filters, and bought threaded ones, but I've decided to try using the vintage folders I have, e.g. bessa with four speed shutter - T, B, 25 and 75, eash of which has no threads for lens accessories.
Got seven or so hoods and two fitted alas none were 36mm for my old Elmar, or Industars.
I discovered that all were series V ready, one even came with a series V - uV filter glass (which did not have the normal series metal ring).
All the hoods had female threaded fittings with male threaded push on adopters, i.e. series V adopters - the push ons sizes varied from 28mm (for the Bessa) to 35mm or so, just too small for the Elmar.
The interesting problem is one hood assembly came with an additional 33mm push on to female screw adopter, (pushed on to a 32mm adopter) which means I seem to have a spare series V push on adopter which will take a filter but I now need a series threaded (male) ring as well.
Confused ...
Do we have anyone who can do a series sticky, which will read well, as I have used series filters (VII Leitz) long time but never understood their versatility? And I now have hoods (and a filter) for most of my folders, without any postage, and with very little outlay.
