Sexier (to the public) Leica MP... Chrome or Black Paint?

I don't hear from others that my Black MP is beautiful; only how cool it is that I'm using an "old" camera. I think I'll just start agreeing with everyone that it's an old ass camera, and I'm a dinosaur. Because, who in their right mind would continue making film cameras, when digital is clearly the better.:)

I just posted this for fun. I personally think the black paint is the sexiest. I also love cameras to be black. But perhaps real chrome cameras looks sexier than black painted ones. modern chrome ones that are actually made out of plastic are the ugliest.

I've got a Bessa R and it's ugly

The question isn't 'which do you think is sexier'

but rather 'which do you think the public thinks is sexier?' Or in other words, 'which do you think is more fascinating, intriguing, beautiful, elegant, etc to the average Joe/Jane'

And why do you think this?
If it's attention you seek, I'd suggest a TLR instead. In my experience, having used Leicas (both chrome and black) and a Rolleiflex in several countries, the Rollei gets loads more comments/stares and frequently makes people (of both sexes, young and old! :)) strike up a conversation.

Not sure about the sexiness but people definitely seem to find it more intriguing. Which, as a bonus, appears to make me seem less suspicious when I take their picture...

I agree with that. I rarely ever brought out my TLR onto street shoots, but waist levels even like my chrome Hasselblad brings on interest.

The general public has absolutely no concept of cameras, film or digital! I once showed an M6 (it could just as well have been a Nikon D3) to an average public person. He held it at arms length and inquired where is the screen for me to see th picture. Deal with it! Joe/Jane public is fixated on the simpliest and cheapest camera possible. Photography for them is still in the mystical arena.

It's funny how, depending on one's location, how one views the general public and its collective knowledge on cameras. It seems the big citys have the more camera savy public... but it could just be because there are just more people.

When I walk or bike over the canals in Amsterdam girls very often look at my steel gray M9 and sometimes we even have a nice little chat about it. This never happened with my M6, so it must be the color.

I am very happily married, but damn could they not have produced a M9 15 years ago :), that I could not have afforded it way back then we simply overlook.

Now this post is purely about fashion, looks, style, vanity, etc.

Which do you think looks sexier to the average non-photographer? A black paint Leica MP or a Chrome Leica MP.

The correct answer is both. To look truly sexy you need one around your neck and the other hanging off your shoulder.
