Sexiest looking camera?

Something I've been working on during the Coronavirus lockdown, a folding 5x7 with good range of movements. Made of Huon Pine from Tasmania, a beautiful timber prized for boat building (unaffected by water) and fine furniture making. I considered the traditional teak, mahogany, cherry, walnut etc but could see no reason not to use Huon Pine. It's strong and light, the whole camera weighing 2.2kg, exactly the same as my Kowa 6x6 with lens. Maybe not as well finished as a bought one but I'm sure the camera will work as it should, and I think it looks rather nice. I did the final assembly of all the bits and pieces yesterday and only have the focusing screen to grind and zero marks to inscribe for the movements. We still have two weeks of stage 4 restrictions here, after which I'll be able to take it out and use it.

There are many, many cameras that are beautiful; too many for me to attempt to list.

However, the uglies are thankfully few in number. I won't let any of these into my house:

Argus C-3
Canon T50 through T90
Koni-Omega Rapid

Well, that’s nice. Triple extra points for doing it yourself.

That black Nikon has made me wish for a black Kiev 4a , but they are probably painted over chrome , which messes up idea of some gentle brassing !
I love my silver/tan Contax

I like the Nikon F2 with the early style DP-1 Photomic metering viewfinder. Proportions are perfect, and every square inch of the camera is finely and intentionally finished. I much prefer the looks of the DP-1 to the non-metered viewfinder, which in comparison has too much of an "Ally McBeal" look, as if its been secretly starving itself to lose weight.

Hah, there's no accounting for taste! I love the look of the plain-prism F2, and reckon the Photomic finders look ridiculous and handle even worse. Must say, that's the first time I've heard any F2 described as 'starving itself'. Even with a DE1 it's a chunky bit of kit :D

What's your favorite looking camera?

The Pentax SV with any of the early Super Takumars. Just so, so classy.

M2 is a close second (I actually really like the design of the frame counter), and I've always been partial to the industrial design of the Agfa 1035 point and shoot and the black Alpa 11 series.

I was lucky that my GAS for the FM3A body and lens happened in 2009, instead of today. The same set is sitting across from me on my table and I'll take it out for a spin in the coming days. Cheers, OtL

If I were to start again with film photography, this may be my only purchase (for a while)
