SF24D flash question

I suspected this, as some of the big photo stores no longer carry this flash. But some still do.

So the SF-24D is "backordered" (i.e. no longer available) and, according to B&H, the SF-26 (which I am not even sure is really "meant" for the M(240) ) is still a new item and not in yet. So...... really.. are there any other options? Even to the point of using non-TTL flashes with thyristors?

Tony at Popflash.com tells me he has the 24D coming in very soon. As far as I can tell the 26D will be fully compatible with the M 240. It seems to only add the bounce capability and perhaps a small boost in guide number.

Used 24D's come on the market now and then (I got mine from KEH a while ago for around $125 in BGN, looks and works perfectly. But I also have an assortment of late-model thyristor flashes and they work fine (I say late model because I hear tell some of the old ones might have too high a trigger voltage...not sure if it's true but not worth a risk IMO). One of my favorites is an Olympus S20 which appears a clone of the Leica CF22 which was offered for the Minilux. Tiny but effective. And it uses 2 AA's a distinct advantage over the rather expensive and not-readily-available-everywhere Lithiums the 24D requires.
