An R-D1 might not seem like an obvious choice for flower photography, but I don't like obvious things and I wanted these images to have a surly, disheveled look:
And here is my modded-out R-D1, featuring custom laser-cut baseplate for mounting a 4400mah lithium-ion battery from Adafruit Industries (I still use wimpy third-party NP80 batteries when I don't want to look like such a nerd, but the big battery lasts a LOT longer!) The viewing angle of the Komura 135mm bright-line auxiliary viewfinder is a little too tight for the 7Artisans 75mm f/1.25 lens I used for these photos, but this way I can be sure that everything I see through the finder is in the shot, plus some extra... better than the other way around!
