I could have sworn that Dropbox used to have a feature that if you put up a folder of photos, it would show them as a slideshow, either by default or through an obvious button.

I know I used to share photos with a select group, using this feature and inviting them to the folder.

However this seems to no longer work.

Curious how people share photos online from say a vacation with a group of people but not publicly. I'm not on Facebook so that isn't an option, if that feature exists.

I use Apple Photos and share through iCloud via private invitations. If the person doesn't have an Apple device, I check the "public" option and send them the email link. The link is unique to the photo share. It works pretty well. You can do slideshows or video, or just post pictures.

You can do this through Lightroom as well using shared albums when synced with Lightroom mobile. What I like about this is that your online shared album will also be automatically updated if you make change to a photo, let's say from color to black and white.

I use Google Photos to share photos. You can share photos with a specific set of people, create a private link to share via email or text, and you can even create collaborative shared albums, where others can add their photos to an album you've created. The shared albums is great for vacation photos with a group of friends, since everyone can add their photos to the same album.

I believe that it was originally just one Dropbox folder called "Photos", but now you can do the same thing with any folder -- at least I think so. You can certainly invite a select group of people to have access to any specific folder.
