Just finished scanning several strips of Ilford HP5 Plus exposed a few months ago in an Olympus 35RC, one of two that I recently purchased; processed in D-76 1:1 for the Ilford recommended 11 minutes @ 68 degrees. I purchased one new in the early 70's and foolishly sold it several years later. After evaluating the scans (Epson V600), I am extremely impressed with the sharpness of the scans, in my opinion certainly the equivalent, if not better, than those of any other lens in my inventory, including my Leica Summaron 35mm f/2.8 (my "best" Leica lens). I conclude that the 42mm f/2.8 Zuiko is the sharpest lens I own; verified by evaluating scans from several other rolls exposed in the 35RC during the last several years.

I had a parts camera years ago- the lens has 5 elements, and they are set in a once piece barrel with the shutter/aperture behind the lens. Most makers used 4 elements for their F2.8 lenses and had the aperture between the elements. My opinion- better alignment with the one piece barrel.

Ashamed to admit I have one that hasn’t been taken out and used for over a year. Better get off my butt.
Too many many cameras.....and way way too little talent.

I have the Olympus 35-S II with the G. Zuiko 4.2cm 1.8 lens...it is one buttery smooth sharp lens...
I love the images taken with this camera...they are amazing to watch develop when printing...makes me appreciate this simple piece of glass...

I've got two of them, one of which the meter doesn't work, but I've never let that bother me. They are fine little cameras.

I have one, and it has been nothing but problems. I even had a CLA with Rick Oleson when he was still doing them. But it is a very sharp lens and an easy traveler. I just don't trust it anymore.
