Shattered Rewind Crank Wheel WTF

Hey all. So I just got a mint Zeiss Ikon RF and after rewinding my second roll of film the damn rewind crack fell apart. It looks like the arrow with crank came apart with silver plate underneath that and a hook with two holes. Can I put this back together and fix it myself. It doesn't look like anything broke it just looks like in unscrewed out of the bolt that it was in. I'm really frustrated and I'm headed to photo village right now to get it check out but if anyone can help me out with this or has experienced this before please help.

If you've still got all the parts you could give it a shot. Be sure to stick something in the groove of the film spindle to keep it in place when screwing the rewind crank back on.
I haven't taken apart a Zeiss ZM yet, but I there should be a thin metal plate that acts as a kind of spring to keep the lever in place.
But this is a Zeiss, and if you aren't 100% confident about repairing it, take it to the camera shop. Rewind cranks are pretty similar, and any camera repair man should be able to reassemble it.

next time, try to remember that the rewind crank turns in the opposite direction than you are probably accustomed to. This is because it is on the bottom of the camera, not the top. If you turn it in the actual direction of the arrow, it will rewind the film and not unscrew the rewind know. It is a simple fix.

Well I did turn it in the right direction. But it just fell apart. It was kind of rough rewinding this film though. Maybe I was a little rough with it. I left it at a Camera Repair in the city. He said it will be ready in about 4 days.

I can't help it but this comment just reminded me of a story of a strong air duster and the diaphraghm leaves inside a lens departing their rightful place. 😀

Not to imply the OP has done something dumb here. We do dumb things, cameras break. These things are not always related, tho in your case Kim...

lol, well its all fixed up. It actually was fixed over night and was $25 bucks.
