Shipping a lens from Canada to the USA

Tracking shows the parcel to have landed in Illinois a day ago, and now it has left Illinois. I hope that it is on its way to Florida now.

I shipped a camera from Canada to a buyer in the U.S. It got held up by U.S. Customs for several days and the buyer became obnoxious. Be patient.

That more or less has been my experience for things coming from Canada. Once it gets to this side there is a lag of at least several days.
My last one was an item coming from Montreal, it took about a week, and I am 3 hours from there by car.
Other than that, the postal services work very, very well.

As someone already mentioned, if possible Canada Post is the best option. It's not necessarily the fastest (UPS or FedEx are faster) but most importantly IF they charge any customs, the BROKERAGE FEE is a flat $10 rate, no matter what the item. Most of the time, depending on the item, there isn't a fee. But if/when it gets charged then they only charge $10.

I have bought stuff from the USA and had it shipped to Canada via FedEx or UPS, and the brokerage fees were outrageous, close to $100. Never did that again.

Zeiss Biogon 35/2 ZM (like new) and a Rigid Summicron 50/2 ("a mess").
I want to get the Cron fixed somehow.

I always use Canada Post, and if you are shipping to the US, they do provide more insurance up to $2000 at least. They don't offer more than $100 insurance for the international parcels any more whatever the shipping method is.
For tracked parcel to the US, they have ExpressPost (3-4 days), Expedited (4-6 days) and regular tracked airmail (8-10 days).
Never used other carriers except the buyer has their own account which will pay by themselves. The other companies like UPS/FedEx will always charge broker fees when you receive the package in Canada, not sure about in the US.
