What do I need to know about shipping a lens overseas? I'm located in california and a buyer has expressed interest in Spain. How much more expensive is it? How much are customs duties?

Customs are entirely the recipients issue. Insured shipping is not cheap, nor is shipping with customs handling included - but on the other hand, the buyer may have to spend many hours personally attending to customs processing (the next customs office might be in the remote state capital, or at some hub airport far, far away), so that $60 extra for a customs processing courier service can be much cheaper for the buyer...

That is, you should negotiate the options with the buyer. But regardless of what he wants, don't ship uninsured if it is a item of relevant value...

I just have a point to make re: shipping internationally from the print shop. The current and only method for shipping overseas to my country (New Zealand) added up to $60, an extremely high cost (especially since I was only going to be buying one $20 item, a Fella plsuhie). The shipping alone costs three times the product!

I was desperately hoping that the dA staff may be able to set up other methods of international shipping... the FedEx one had 'riority' which I assume is some kind of fast post so one alternative could be a slower shipping at a lower price, or even risking everything on the mercies of a basic postal service.
