There was a movie a few years back with Clooney about WWII that was shot entirely on 5222. I don't recall the name of it. Hard to beat that Bond scene though! That was the best Bond movie. I still remember being blown away by it.

"Casino Royale" is my favorite, and I have collected them all.
Even the original "Casino Royale" which was a fifties TV special, with Peter Lorre as LeSchefe.
I believe "Schindler's List" was also filmed on 5222.

Talking about PPD:
I have the Hans Windisch W665 developer tested out with XX. It uses OPD. I can tell you: Great results on E.I. 100. Very close to the Edwal receipts.

Where did you get the OPD? I've never seen it, although I've only ever bought chemicals from Photographer's Formulary.

I have been mixing Gainer's EZ Rodinal for years now. The chemicals are Sodium based, so you can get them easily. You still need to buy the P-Aminophenol at PF though. I use Roebic drain cleaner for the Hydroxide, and Sodium Sulfite from the pool store (Leslie's Chlorine Neutralizer). I also add Benzotriazole, just a touch. This works exactly like Rodinal. It also lasts like Rodinal too.

"By the way, since I have a bunch, and respooling is such a pain by hand, I bought a couple of oooooooold film winders/rewinders on ebay then screwed them to a small board. Now it is a piece of cake to respool the 400' onto 100' spools. Only takes a minute! I get three stuffed-full spools from 400' of 5222. That makes bulk loading pretty easy."
Patrick,
I've always admired your work, and you've been here since the beginning of this thread. I'm sure TomA would be pleased you want to recharge things here......
Can you post a photo of your rewinder for XX? You know how a pix says it all.
Thanks
-Dan

Thanks for the kind words Dan. It is funny that I never knew Tom, never talked to him or conversed with him in any way except to order some soft releases many years ago. Yet this thread makes me sad he is gone since I've seen so much of his stuff over the years, which is why I thought I would put some life back in it.
I'll get a picture of it when I get the winder thingamajig back together. I took it apart to modify it, and now I can't find my extra 400' spool.... Stupid hurricanes.

Contax ST/Planar 50mm/Pyrocat-PC
Gotta love the way Pyrocat holds highlights. Impossible to blow them. I've fallen in love again with the Planar as well. A while back I wasn't getting very sharp images out of it, even though they were sharp. The glass ended up having a slight coating inside. Tore it down, relubed it just in case, and super cleaned the inside surfaces. Back in form. Super sharp again!
