shooting fabrics

Hi,
Has any one shot fabrics for catalouges with an M9,& the micro lens? Did you see moir patterns in the fabric designs? The reason I ask is I am contemplating getting a Nikon d3x for this purpose as I already own Nikon equipment. But I also have an M8 with the lenses. And as the 2 cameras are comparable in cost but differ in resolution-I dont need more than 21mp-I any help in deciding which one to get will be great.

Fabrics are a recipe for moire with the M9. The only way to avoid is being slightly out of focus to simulate the moire filter you find in for instance Nikon and Canon. I would prefer using the Nikon.

Another way is stopping down enough to induce diffraction. Even my Canon 1Ds exhibits color moire with fabric, and it does have a low-pass filter. Following image was not stopped down enough. 🙂
