Shooting technique? Focusing?

If shooting at f5.6+ I tend to hyperfocus. If shooting with a fairly open aperture I always set the focus to infinity between shots and focus in from there every time.
I was shown this technique by a pro and it works well with a bit of practice.

I hyper focus when I use the Voigtlander 15mm. I find the scale a little crowded on my Nokton 40mm and have always hesitated in hyper focusing because I am scared I will miss the shot. I guess I just need to practice. I think I could put the Nokton on my EP-1 and get instant results.
But I have always wondered about others shooting techniques.
Thanks for the comments.

Well.... (long pause as Rich L scratches head) I gota Brownie Holiday so guess that's hyper focused?

Okay a Holiday is fun to use and nobody, just nobody gives you a second glance when using one 🙂 but I typically us a focusing camera and have in mind if I want to shoot far or near. I usually set set my camera for a depth of field of 4 to 10 feet for close shots and 10 feet to ∞ for distant.

I zone focus; estimate the distance, nudge the focus and then mash the shutter button.
If I'm using a P&S, like the t3, I'll preset the manual focus to 1.5 or 2 meters and then make sure I'm near enough, no nudge adjustment. However there is a one button spot auto focus that overrides the preselected manual focus setting if i need to refocus quickly.
