Shot with a 1952 Kiev II

Beautiful camera & great looking shots!

Still plan on trying Gman's Kiev someday.

Gene, I'm impressed by your Contax shots. Nice composure and colors. I can't help but think that you were shooting in an economically depressed area. That many deserted buildings and overgrowth generally goes with lost jobs and closed businesses. Kinda sad.

That Coney Island Dog at Cindy's makes me HUNGRY!!

Great shots! I have a Contax II that I don’t use as much as I should. It is capable of making great pictures. The Kiev II is a different camera than later Kievs. The early ones were made with “liberated” German parts and lenses. There also was a “no name” Kiev in the late ‘50s or early ‘60s (no name on the faceplate) that was made to a higher standard—perhaps equaling the Contax. They apparently were made for export. Most have turned up in the U.S.
I have 1971 and 1977 Kiev 4As and the build is much rougher than the Earlier Kievs and Contax. Allegedly quality control got to bad toward the end of the Kiev 4AM production run that some cameras were hauled directly from the assembly line to the dump.

Gene M ~ Enjoyed all the photos. Thanks! That makes me want to bump the Kiev up several notches on my Wish List. I really wish you Kiev guys wouldn't advertise so much until at least Christmas. I've been fighting off GAS for two months now, and you're not making it any easier! :(

And "Amen!" I too have enjoyed your website many times Wayne; especially like the "First Camera" story.

Great shots with your Kiev-Contax II, congratulations :)
I am eager to see the results I got with my Carl Zeiss Biogon 35mm (er... Jupiter-12 *blushes*)
