How good is 200 euro (about $250) for a Bessa R2 body? (used, but in good condition)

I really want to... I have the money, love the idea of an RF with changeable lenses.
It's from a camera repair guy I trust too.
All i need is a few lenses, where my plan unravels. They're not that cheap!
I am thinking of
Color Skopar 25/4
fast 50mm
The VC 75mm or the 90mm

To keep costs down I'm thinking of the 25 (a focal length I really like on SLRs)
and a Jupiter 8 and the 75, so they can share the same LTM to M adaptor

Whaddya think?

Cheers

That is a great deal. The R2 is all mechanical, and out of production. It has a high resell value. You can easily get your money back out of it if you decide to get something different later.

Hey Nick
Congratulations on your new camera. What about a nice 50/1.5 Nokton or a 21/4 Color-Skopar to put on it? 😉
Cheers
Vincent

Hey Vincent!

I think a 21 may be a bit wide! I'd prefer a 25mm...
How much do you want for the Nokton?

Cheers,
Nick

The 21mm lens will RF Couple; the 25mm lens does not. Of course scale focus for a wide-angle at F4 or so is not difficult, but it is re-assuring to watch that RF image line up.

Well I picked up the R2 today. Strange to have a camera but not be able to use it... so I'm on the lookout for lenses now.
Maybe start with a 35 Ultron, a 75 or 90 and take it from there.

Be careful with the choice of the focal length of the first lens ! You should know what the whole set shall be at the end and the steps sholud not be too big.

25/50/75 was my choice once and I never felt any regrets, 25 is significantly wider than 28, but if you need fast lenses the 1.9/28 is better, and the the lower end should be 21 then and a 35 makes not much sense if you gor a 28.. 75 or 90 are a matter of taste, one of them you'll need anyway, I decided to take the 75 because it is faster and covers my tele needs.
35 is a very versatile lens, the best one if you can take only one lens with you.
And 35/50/XX is not too close, but you need a fourth lens then, 25 or 21, because 35 is not wide ebuff . 3 or four lenses
To have too large steps in a set is really annoying and I personally need the 50 often, so I had to build up my set around this central point.
Fast/slow are also worth more than one thought, weight, size and price do matter too.
A lot of thoughts to think before you order, but at least pleasing thoughts 🙂

Bertram

Just remember you can always get a Bessa L with the super wide lenses 🙂 Like the 12mm or 15mm. They look better on an L compared to the R or R2. 35mm or a 50mm seem like a good first lens to me 🙂

Thanks for the advice folks. Bertram - that's exactly what I decided. I have a 50/1.5 Nokton hopefully on the way now from a fellow RFFer... to be followed by a 75/2.5.
Next will be the 25, (funds permittng) as I was recently stuck with an SLR and only a 24mm lens and loved the focal length.
