Should I REALLY be considering the R2C??

I was talking to Tony (Fred) earlier today, and he recommended the Bessa R2 as the next camera I should think about. It's a likely choice, and probably the best considering budget.

Thanks to Noel/Xmas linking me to Robert White I noted that there's the R2C.

It's discontinued, and I don't know if I can afford it before RW runs out, but is it really worth buying either way?

I understand the rangefinder baselength is quite short in comparison to the old kiev/contax's, but it's the only modern camera with the same mount, and with that diddy little focus wheel. I've read through a bunch of older posts on the camera, but I wanted to ask:

For the price, is it really worth it?

Should I just buy 6 good condition kievs or a kiev and a contax for the same price as that body alone??

Hi Ash,
Unless you have a collection of Contax mount lenses that you are happy with and want to keep using on a modern body, I would go M mount. You will have a much larger choice of glass both M and LTM mount to choose from.

There are FAR more lenses available to use with an M-mount camera. There are the M-mount lenses, and all the 39mm thread mount (LTM) lenses with adaptor.

So I'm guessing it's a no for the r2c?

Thanks for the confirmation I should be going for M/LTM 🙂
