Show me a nice old car

A Riley tourer of some kind, I can't identify. Just parked by the side of the road and no sign of the owner. Very trusting!

That's magnificent!

There's a Riley lives near us, but it's a lot tattier than that gleaming example.

Thanks, when I say this car was in showroom condition, I really mean it. I was tempted to take some macro shots of various chrome parts but didn't have the time. Even the fuel filler cap was the Riley embossed original in perfect condition. Definitely someone's labour of love!

I believe this is a 1946 Ford Super Deluxe. A 1943 model would have the same appearance as the 1942 Ford. It would have been devoid of chrome and stainless steel trim. The most noticeable difference in the front end was the use of a stamped horizontal bar grill with bright trim on the 1946 Ford cars. The 1942 had a three piece grill with vertical bars. The 1942 style model continued in production until early 1945 (mostly for military use). Ford started production of the 1946 model in July, 1945. Regardless of the year this is a great photo of a classic. Hopefully it will be restored to its former glory someday.
