Show me a nice old car

Scanning negatives over the holidays, brought up these . When I bought this car for next to nothing 35+ years ago, it was peeling off green, the floor was rusted out to the extent that you would have been able to watch the road pass beneath your feet as you drove along, provided it would run, which it didn't. Particularly proud of this car because I spent some years converting it to a very capable vintage race car and racing it, building every race motor and doing all the fabrication myself outside of the roll cage and paint..

Had a lot more spare money then (and one season, not counting initial cost of equipment, of running this at tracks all over the country would more than cover the cost of every camera anyone could possibly want). Nothing I have ever done, or ever hope to do, or ever imagine doing, was remotely as much fun, and it has been sorely missed in the years since it has been gone to someone who will never have the satisfaction of being able to say, "I did this myself". I wish I could say that I don't miss this, but just looking at the photos has always made me ache.

Found a Corvair convertible, yellow with black interior (vinyl of course) in the early 70's. 4 carbs (crazy to tune). Engine smoke came thru the heating ducts (so much for air cooled). I think I left it in the field where I found it, after a few months.
 
Number 23 looks great, Larry! Wonderful how the design has remained recognizably "Porsche" over all these years. I have a new Porsche coupe that is clearly related to that one!

As to Corvairs, I had two... a '65 Corsa Turbo in sad shape that I bought 5 years old for $50 and fully restored, and a '66 Monza with a 327 v8 mid-engine conversion, also a project!

That is sweet looking, Doug.
I keep thinking I will get a nice, late model, corvair convertible someday as it is one of the few nice cars from that era which is still affordable due to people being scared off by bad information, I guess.
The '66 Monza with the 327, sounds like illicit fun. Too much power is just enough.
