Show me a nice old car

You rang Sir?

Can the resident experts help identify the model year? I have trouble with these Mustangs...

It’s a 1966, or at least presents as one. The trim in the fake air intake on the side of the car as seen here was only on the ‘66 as the 1964 and a half (1965) and 1967 were different. Later than that and the whole car looked different. This one has been debadged, cleaned up and repainted though, so conceivably could be a ‘65 made to look like a ‘66. Pretty car though. The earliest ones were the cleanest, as is often the case with cars.

I think it’s a 1966, judging by the side scoop and gas cap.

Thank you, Vince and Larry! I'm always amazed by the breadth and depth of knowledge here on RFF, not just about cameras.

I passed by this car for many months in my neighborhood, but it was always under cover. Finally got lucky one afternoon, and I happened to have my cameras with me.

99% of the time, it's the all-original cars that capture both my heart and my respect. But every once in a while I run across a modified build that's been done so cleanly and appears to be so well thought out that I feel the need to share with others. This would be one of those cars.

Very nice, Guth, I'd like to see more images of this car if you've got any.

All the best,
Mike

I don't see many nice old cars these days, well not to stand and photograph in real life. So what I do now and then is go to the classified adds on ebay. There's some lovely pictures of old cars waiting for the right buyer to turn up. Last night I saw a Citroen Traction Avant, a Daimler DS420 (the limousine) and a 60's Bentley S2. I just wish I could justify buying one and then running it but the experience of one of my neighbours frightened me.

Regards, David
