Show me a nice old car

My advice, as the former owner of 7 classic cars and the current owner of 1. Get to know people with them, and leave the spending and miseries to them...

(all the ones you mention David are best avoided - the Daimler 420s are rotboxes, the Traction Avant is a b ugger to sort and the Bentley S2 will eat you alive in petrol and maintenance bills. The specialists know how to charge!)

Hi,

All my escapades with old cars were in the 70's and I still find bits of them in the garage. What my neighbour frightened me with were the figures these days for some problems, even allowing for inflation etc. they shocked me...

Sorry Mike, Unless I happened to grab some shots I’ve forgotten about with one of the other cameras I had with me that day (that film is being processed now), this would be it. Should I ever make the acquaintance of this particular Datsun at another local event in the future, I’ll be sure to try and capture a few more views and details.

Agreed, Larry... and seeing this Camaro model I'm always reminded that its styling is derivative from the '65 and later Corvair! 😉


(Corvair fan here, not to joke... I fully restored a '65 Corvair Corsa Turbo and then also enjoyed a '66 coupe with a 327CID 360hp mid-engine conversion)

Boy, nice Buick! Anyone who has ever had automotive chrome replated at this level knows how many Leicas the owner could have purchased instead. One of the reasons these cars are rarely restored to this level, so much chrome acreage to deal with. It was never that nice and deep coming from the factory.. nicely done.

Doug, would love to see some photos of that conversion. Also wondering what it was like to drive compared to the Corsa Turbo, which I always thought was “enough”🙂
