I assume a steering wheel was an optional extra on a Series I?

Some of the very early prototypes had the driving position in the centre to solve the problem of left hand drive or right hand drive...
 

I love the Rover 2000!

My dad drove MGs, from 1951 through 1967 (TD, TF 1500, MGA, and MGB). He turned 50 in December 1967 and he traded the MGB in on a new Rover 2000 TC the next month, January 1968. (I might note that I was the one who turned him on to the Rover!). What a wonderful car!
