Well, I have a Thermaphot ACP-252, 25 cm wide, 2 bath so the lenght won't be any problem. 😉

Here an example of RA-4 in a wide (90cm) print:

Pano shots taken with Mamiya 7 and 35mm pano kit. Set the large easel up and placed two 8x10's side by side. Joined with a bit of tape at the back. Still wondering how they might look framed.

I had to look up 'diptych' 🙂 But yes, I think there is some potential there. Even perhaps a distinct mid image division that covers the join?

Thanks for the tip. I use a this system. Overnight and they are flat and stay flat. The biggest issue is that I only have two boards ready to go so it limits my fiber output.

I know you've probably written this elsewhere, but can you give me some more info on what you are doing here? I feel like I've seen it somewhere else. I'd like to try it for flattening. It's a bugger of a problem for me with larger (16x20 or 20x24) prints.

I dry my prints in a hot press, 15 mins at 60C, then switch off the press and let them in until next morning. Luckily, my press is 20x24, double sided and I won't achieve more output than that during a single session.

The biggest disadvantage is that you need a lot of materials and screws etc. in stainless steel so even not really cheap when making it your self. When you take an IKEA 4mm glass frame and do it with aquarel tape it is going much faster, cheaper and 5-6 glass frames you can put 10-12 fiber photos. Of course when you're going over 40x50cm prints you need already 50x60cm glass which can break but after cutting the prints it is much easier to get it perfectly clean again.

Had two long sessions in the darkroom over the weekend. I'm finding a very warm tone to the print (Ilford multigrade). Could old developer (as in old before I mixed it) be the cause? Also experimenting with selenium toning.

Anyway am going to buy some fresh developer tomorrow. I have a choice of more Ilford or Tetenal, Adox, Agfa, Fotospeed, Paterson, Marshalls (Vanbar, Sydney). Any suggestions? To be used with Ilford multigrade RC papers or Oriental FB papers.

First attempt at printing in the darkroom...I said this same statement when I developed my first roll of B&W film a little over a year and a half ago - "I"m hooked"

My wife got me an old Durst D2 enlarger for Christmas and this was the first time I put it to use. I still don't have an easel or a grain magnifier, but I think they turned out pretty well for my first attempt. OK, maybe not first attempt - you are not seeing the 2 or 3 that didn't turn out quite so well!

Jordan, agree with Anthony, those pictures are exceptionally well taken and printed.
You looks like a natural darkroom printer.

John - I use Oriental FB with Dektol or Ilford Multigrade and they were always quite neutral. When the developer gets old, I don't get as deep blacks however.

Thanks. I think I'll sample one or two different developers. I noticed that Rogers Hicks has a bit of a run down on his website which is useful.

Spent another day today in the darkroom...I really appreciate the compliments folks, I'm blaming it all on beginners luck for sure. Any and all pointers and feedback are welcome - even if its criticism. I'm looking for a used easel on craigslist and the like, those darn things are expensive!
