My scans always look less sharp than the original prints. When I enhance the "sharpness" in Photoshop, I usually get a white line around dark areas. Is this due to the quality of the scanner?

i use a "street find" Canonscan with everything in box!
Sadly scans are NOT projection prints..
I too have noticed weird bits near blacks and blown away highlights..
The scanner sees as a dumb robot..mine is certifiable!
but it's an easy but long and tedious time requirement,
for small digital files.

My local community center has a wet darkroom with 6 enlargers and stop/fixer. All you need to bring is paper and developer. I think I should check that out! When I was a teenager, I did a lot of darkroom work and miss it.
