Swweeeeeet!!!!! :) Does she have red velvet undies like the rest of her sisters? :D Too bad your first one was in bad shape. Did you keep it for spare parts? Regards.

My experience with the first one left me with a good impression of eBayer 'Grizzly Bear' ... she exchanged the camera and was very apologetic. This one did have somewhat stiff focus but that was easily fixed. I can see why so many people rave about these Iskras ... if it's as good as it appears to be I will probably get rid of my two TLR Rolleis. As a 6x6 shooting device it should dust them ... and I don't have to look at everything back to front! :D

AND USEABLE, a camera like that is not for a showcase, its for enjoying taking pictures with.

Sure. Many antiques are also useable. I will not treat it like an edition Leica.:D

How does that work on a Zorki?
Not very well. ;)

It's a Canon SLR lens attached via a Canon Lens Mount Converter B that I picked up somewhere a couple of years ago and tossed into a drawer. I may try another test roll in daylight so it can be stopped down and guess focused close to infinity or beyond. One shot here, indoors, wide open.

It is a slightly scratched, well-worn lens pulled out of the local camera shop’s bargain bin to drop into my Canon AE1 bag. But I’m a tinkerer - I can’t help it - so it wound up for a few shots on the Zorki.

Erik, I think you have compressed that .jpg a bit too much.

Either that or 9 months after payment I still haven't gotten the camera in the mail yet to take a .jpg of. :bang:

This is exactly why I want a FED2, and what I'll do to one.
What type of paint did you use? How did you prep the surface? You mention Hydrocloride (Hydrochloric?) acid in another post, did you dilute it down, and how long did you leave it on the surfaces?
hi,

thanks for grammar correction. i used h.acid because it's simple and i'm not skilled in chrome (de)plating etc.. it was just few days before recent ZorkiKat's thread about dechroming, which is the smoother method. i just sunk all parts i wanted to dechrome in 30% acid and checked / moved them from time to time. largest parts (top / bottom) were done in cca 20 mins. effective but nothing healthy.. 0.5 L of 30% HCL makes a pretty big mess in the air, good idea is to cover it between checks. after cleaning and rubbing with alcohol i used no primer, just 2 coats of automotive spray gloss black paint. next day i polished bigger surfaces a bit (no mirror gloss desired..) then i filled "engravings" (not a proper word if they are pressed.. right ? correct me if ..) with brown acrylic paint. and to be truth - i bought that fed just for this.. (+ it had j8)

one more sunny snap

A 1964 Kiev 4, and a 1975 4a.

Dunno, I like the look of these cameras, as well as the sound of them. Thankfully they're very useable as well. The Jupiter 8M is reputed to be good, I've only seen negatives from these lenses.

... really must get back into the darkroom...

Another black FED 2d - which would be a good match with Keith's Iskra shown in an above post.

Although I bought them at different occasions they are both from 1975 and the serial numbers differ by only 2869.

Both have had their self-timers removed, and one also the flash sync. New covering is a soft black leather from some ladies boots... but it's all been said in another thread

EDIT: Added 2 more pictures... The last shows how good the Kiev looks with black J-12 . Also the pictures show my homemade softies (soft release buttons).

nice.. i also tend to get rid of selftimest and fl. syncs.

third on the way ?

I too remove the self-timer and syncs when restoring. I use JB weld, a two part metallic epoxy available around here. Fills the hole very nicely and blends into the rest of the camera body just fine. I fill the holes just to make sure that there is no chance of light leaks. I am waiting on some parts cameras from Alex to finish the fixes.
