Show Off Your FSU

Waaaay too many to show them all. Very serious GAS. 90 odd FED and Zorki of all major types, plus some Zarya, Mir and a Leningrad. Kiev-4 and -4A, a Horizont, a couple of SLRs, Zenit-S, Kristall, 2x Zenit 3M, Zenit-E, Zenit-B and a Start. Last, but not least, a Lubitel-2 and a Moskva-5.

Many of those are working and usable, but not all. Some get their fair share of film to expose. Main users besides the Moskva-5 are a Zorki-1 - which was my first ever FSU camera - a Zorki-3, and a couple of Zorki-4 and -4K.

As I can't show them all, I'll show off the Zorki-4K kit currently loaded with film and seeing a lot of use recently (lens on camera is a Jupiter-3 with a "class enemy's" yellow filter on)

Second one is the latest successful repair, FED-3 relabeled as Revue-3 for West German Foto-Quelle, late, screen-printed version:

When it arrived, film transport lever did not engage, and hence shutter was not cocked. Self timer did not trigger shutter. Shutter itself was fine. It must have been on the beach a lot in its former life, judging from the huge amount of sand that I had to remove from under the top plate. After some CLA it works like new again. Will put a film in it as soon as the one in the Zorki-4K is finished.

I know, I know, it's not a rangefinder. But it is FSU and isn't it just plain beautiful? It's so well-made. Pity they did not develop the Start concept any further...

Look what the postman brought me 10 minutes ago (Russar lens and finder, the Zorki-3 has been with me for a couple of years).

This crown jewel was still missing in my collection until today :)

Now it's about time to go outside and use the new toy :)

Russar lens and finder

For some unknown reason I could not find that lens plus finder for any reasonable price.

Yes, new from LOMOGRAPHY excl. finder for Eur. 600,- is the easiest way to go ......

It may be somewhat individual what you consider to be a "reasonable price". Certainly you won't get one in the price region of a Jupiter-8 or Industar-61... The Russar lenses tend to be much more expensive than most other FSU rangefinder lenses. It took me a while until I was mentally prepared to pay what you have to pay for one...

But you don't have to pay 600 EUR excluding finder. I've just paid 385 EUR plus shipping for the one on the photo above, including the finder and (non-original) caps and bakelite cases.

Cheers,
Andreas

A nice FED-3 (German Revue-3 version for Foto-Quelle, early type with engraved logo), which has been somewhat refined by a previous owner.

Added strap lugs and rewind crank instead of knob improve usability. Looks have been improved by thorough cleaning and polishing, repainted 2-colour logo and new leatherette. Everything has been done very nicely.

It even has a red dot on the lens mount, whatever this is for :D

All controls are smooth, the shutter runs fine, it's a pleasure to use.

The result is a camera which looks even nicer and feels even better than it did when it left the factory.

Results were a bit disappointing, though. Pictures were not quite as sharp as I'm used from my other FSU rangefinders. I've yet to find out what exactly the problem is. It's close, but not perfect. If I had no other FSU rangefinders, I'd probably think it's weak lens performance, but I know they can do better than that...

My Zorki 3 with Jupiter-3 and Turret viewfinder.
.. Hello, I'm new here. This is my first reply. :D

Edit: sorry for the small pic.

Thanks you all.
I got lots of information here, but I just have a time to reply.
Next time I will show another Zorki with ZK 2/50 collapsible lens. ;-)

My main FSU shooters. ;)
Fed2 + Jupiter8 50mm f/2
Zorki C + Industar-22 50mm f/3,5
Zorki 4 + Industar-50 f/3.5

All in top shape after cleaning and adjusting the rangefinder.
Wish I could shoot with these more often here in Finland....
(film costs 8€ per roll)

Nice set.

About films: just order them abroad in any Euro country for half price or less and let send it by airpack enveloppe to Finland.
