That's a handsome pair of cousins. I enjoy my Kiev-4a as a winter camera.

Despite the shared DNA of the Contax / Kiev models, you can see how the post-war camera bodies (Contax IIa and Kiev 4a, respectively) started to diverge. There are significant differences in the metal components -- the dimensions are different, for example the rangefinder windows.

I never received a Kiev R.F. as gift from the former Sovjet Union. Maybe I did something wrong ????????:bang:
Nice camera and watches BTW.
I guess that you had to be friendly to the Soviet Union, or you were on a black list.
Thanks for the kind words.

Very good cameras! I am eager for shooting with my FSU cameras in China.

These days I seldom see a guy shooting with film cameras let alone a bottom loader.

Very nice cameras in this thread. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with the FSU-camera collection bug!
Always wanted to get an ISKRA, I heard the lens on those cameras is outstanding.

I'm so jealousDo you have an m39 to whatever digital adapter for that Helios 40? Is it a good performer?
yes of course, M39 to EOS and you can use it with Canon analog and digital cameras. It's a beautiful performer!

Hello from Texas!
Late last year diving back into film after 30 years.
I guess I always wanted a Leica but could never rationalize that, with the strong dollar the FSU stuff is great.
Both of these are early SN's, both CLA. I love the Zorki-zorki '51, so fun to carry and operate, the lens so sharp.
I have not finished the first roll thru the Zorki 4, a '57, it is minty fresh.

Hi,
Welcome aboard, you've made a good start with those two but beware, you are now standing at the top of a long slippery slope. I expect you'll enjoy it.
Regards, David

Nice to have you here! Glad to see you're enjoying your FSU cameras. I like both of your Zorkis, great choices. I quite like the Zorki-4, the viewfinder is big and bright. I own a couple myself.

Not a rangefinder, but FSU just the same.
My Kiev 88. Purchased from a Russian emigré with 4 lenses, two film backs, and a hard case for $400. Not bad!
