My new Fed 5 + Jupiter 12+ Yashica GSN viewfinder.
This combination make the Fed 5 look better. 😀

Just arrived in the post from USSR-Camera 😀

Vulcanites a bit worn but at least it proves it's not spent it's life at the back of the cupboard 😉 and the J8 is 1955 vintage but I'm pretty sure that it's not the original as the slow speed lock and the serial number on the RF housing rather than the back of the top plate suggest an early Zorki 3 but I could be wrong .

I believe you're right there, Paul. Before purchasing mine some time ago (Oct.2005 I think), I shot an email to Oleg and got his thoughts. Below was his assessment.
Q: Is this particular Zorki 3 just a very early position for the serial number or ??
A: Yes, absolutely... First Zorki-3 produced in 1954 may be marked with
short number on top cover. Such cameras may have other slow speeds
dial also with lock on 25 speeds (like Leica).​

Definately could be. Mine came with a '52 Jupiter.8, probably older than the body, ay?

You're exactly right, Paul... while typing, my old brain was thinking '54-'55, prod. years of the 3M... I think 😱 ?

Hey! I use my old camera every day although they are heavy! I bring my Fed 5 every day in this week! it realy a workhorse.(although it is so ugly!)😀 😀
 
One weird side effect of all these FSU cameras is the runaway amount of 50mm lenses I seem to have... I just did a count and I have more 50mm than I have bodies... 😕

Hehe rather scarily I seem to be drawn to early Jupiter 8,s and I'm looking for a rigid Industar 22 . I even went as far as to buy a dog rough FED2a simply because it had a nice looking 1954 Jupiter 8 fitted 🙄

Ugly,? No its beauty is in the quality of the photos it can produce!!🙄
 
gregg & sovietleica ~ I'm trying to subdue my FSU.GAS. Would you mind replacing your photos with something out of focus? .... And maybe a lot darker? 😉

Incidentally, why? You could probably have adjusted the Zorki for the Leica standard, that's what they have adjustable close focus for.
