Guessing it has been repainted? Or at least the Woods metal lettering replaced with paint?
Doesn't look like a conversion.

Be careful of the edges of the covering, get 'em stuck down before they catch on something and break off!

I bought her from Tamarkin / Miss II from 1 Feb 1932
they do not know whether Leica or 'someone else' did the black enamel repaint
She is in Beautiful Shape...her only flaw
A small piece of her leather is missing . bottom right side underneath lens mount

Now I must decide whether to reskin
 
That shouldn't be too hard a decision to make Helen.
Right now, it kind of looks like a car that was 'restored' by giving it a paint job, but they forgot to get all the chrome redone so it sticks out like a sore thumb.
I vote 'for' a reskin.
 
I have 3 of them, all slightly different, 2 marked with a name, that one not. Tons of them on ebay for little money, but it is hard to know what you are getting since most were made for lens adapter kits. I consider them "aimers" but I check them against the M2 35mm framelines.

I actually love the mix of black & chrome or Nickel ??
and really don’t mind the piece of vulcanite missing

it’s really a question of do I want to spend the time chipping away all the vulcanite.. once that is done it only takes minutes to apply new skin
I once did it on an M2

Just shoot it & put some nicks on it. ;)
 
I'm with Greg, shoot it as it is. It's beautiful, and the chips in the vulcanite give it character. And as one who has also chipped off all the vulcanite on an M2, that is no fun at all.

But do tell us what lucky lens gets mated with that beauty.

If the vulcanite is beyond the odd crack or missing piece, I prefer to replace it with similar looking material with matching pattern/structure. Not a big fan of outlandish covers myself.

Though some of those bright coloured reskins jobs can look pretty sexy.
 
Small pieces of missing Vulcanite can be repaired using Milliput Black. It's a kind of two-part putty that sets rock hard in 2-3 hours. I use the end of a small screwdriver to create the Vulcanite texture. You can even varnish it (it sets matte and I have used gloss in the past) to get a perfect match. That step depends on the finish of the actual Vulcanite, of course. You can't see the repair, even when you know where it is!
