There is another one, just simple III, but with a story - it was the main working camera of great 20th soviet reporter Sergey Shimansky, through its lens was cover the face of totally deleted Kiev-city, prewar old looking historical view, now only in enciclopedia. During the WWII mr.Shimansky dozens times published chronicles in newspapers of Soviet-Finnish War, German Campaign and Nurnberg Process. Also camera was in first russian expedition in Himalaya, and the most world famous shots were made by it in Occupied Leningrad during the war - in every russian history book printed many shots from this ve-e-e-ry strong Leica III
Don't you wish we could all see pictures from our previous owners' cameras? How did you ever end up with that camera?
Semrich, i am curious about the book shown in the photo of your converted II
Who is the author? Thanks.
Yan Silis your camera and history attached to these ; is simply staggering !
Very impressive ! looking forward to see other pics from your collection ! 🙂
Do you have a IIIcK ?
Thank you ... and damn call names when loading brass cassette with film in the dark toilet.
Thank you for such a good words! I will try to surprise you a bit more, nor with IIIc K, sorry, I have it but honestly it is just an excellent fake, I think even could sell it on ebay as real, but not my style - just keep for collection, hope one time best fakes will cost much more than original - the story of Rome's coins told it... I will post more shots in march, now in Thailand with Leica II and Summar, making many many shots on b&w wide open (oh, that crazy Summar, you know...😉)) and damn call names when loading brass cassete with film in the dark toilet.
Hahaha I really meant what I said this is an incredible story and collection !
I am at first a WWII aircraft entousiast, specially german ones ( no political interets I prefer to mention that directly , just design ! ) that is why IIIcK also got my attention, but I am also interested in all Screw mounted ! My interest in WWII leads me to admire the Ex-Soviet reporter camera you have great story !
By the way, it is not so related to this tread but anyone knows something about the BSK16 aircraft gun camera ?? I heard this was from Leica but not sure at all !
I wish you a good travel in Thailand and nice pictures with this so nice lens ! 🙂
Michael,
Seems like flash lighting on that frontal shot, all others have less pronunced sheen.
And, FED never issued a body with a slow times dial, at least not as a production camera. Slim chance that this camera could have a FED shell, I'd say...🙂
Hello Bolas,
is that an original Leica case you have with the camera? Never seen one like that, with the large script and the rounded nose...
Lovely camera, the bakelite lens cap is real nice too!
