Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Leica.III #2

Leica.III #2

Ahhh, the mailman. . . my best friend. Newly arrived Leica.III, a little naked and a lot of his brass hanging out. But man, Oleg got all the parts goin' in the right direction.

*grins with contentment*

Reagan,

Nice and congrats!!! I have a soft spot for brassy black enamel Barnacks. Are you cutting up some leather or getting the cover from Aki-Asahi? Also, I can't find the "O" in the lens mount, is it a replacement? Just curious....if only it could speak of images it took in its lifetime.

Joseph

The cover is in the mail from Aki... any day now. Yep, no "O". . . could be/probably is a replacement. This baby has had some serious wear and refinements. The speed dial has been filed to form several little "corners" on it. ?? Oleg replaced the RF eyepiece lens for me with a Zorki, so I'm scanning around looking for an original of that, but that's no biggie to me; it works fine. Got film in it now, an I.22 mounted, and I love it. I'll add a pick when it's got some clothes on. It's a real beater... hope I don't scratch it. ;) Thanks Joseph!

Reagan, how long did the round trip to Oleg take? About how much does he charge for a CLA?

EDIT: Just found this info on his website.

Yeah, info is there. I had seller (who was in Ukraine) send directly to Oleg. Still, that took weeks! But Oleg got it done and got it out less than a week. I think it took right at 2 weeks from Oleg to me. It's worth every bit. New curtains, all speeds working properly, just in good shape ready to go.

That was a risky/gutsy move, buying a Leica III from a seller in Ukraine. Most would assume it was a Fed in disguise. Happy it worked out for you.

There were several emails w/ pics, Q&A, serial number, more Q&A, etc. Have to admit, I was holding my breath a few times. Even with all the correspondence, I thought it was coming from Austria until it arrived at Oleg's. He informed me it had come from the Ukraine. But, as mentioned, I'm pleased... and content...

Really nice one and I like the brassing.

I posted my Leica IIIa some time ago. I recently equipped my Leica IIIf RD with a 35mm f/2.8 Jupiter 12 and a CV Finder from CameraQuest, to make it a first class "walk around" camera for a guy like me who is tight with a buck. The finder is great and the lens is sharp. See the rig below.

My Leica IIICK with Angeniuex 28mm f3.5 and MOOLY-C

Welcome leicaism!
Do tell about the Angenieux. I had a 90 1.8 on my watch list just because I thought it would be cool to have a parisian lens, but...um...it went for over 2 grand in the end :D
